TAIWAN-INDIA FRIENDSHIP

Director General of TECC, Chennai, Mr Richard Chen said, “Taiwan is well-known for electric & electronic machinery industries. More Taiwanese companies in these sectors are setting up factories in India.” He appreciated the initiative by Surana & Surana International Attorneys in association with Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) for organising the TAIWAN-INDIA FRIENDSHIP B2B Networking Session.

Welcoming the dignitaries and guests, Dr. Vinod Surana, Managing Partner & CEO, SSIA emphasized that the close ties between the two nations will help in providing a strong manufacturing base in India and particularly in Tamil Nadu for Taiwanese companies. “Taiwan is a world leader in semiconductors, precision equipment, speciality chemicals, communication, food processing etc. One-third of Taiwan’s GDP comes from high technology and here, Taiwan offers significant opportunity for cooperation and collaboration,” said Dr Surana.

Mr JULES SHIH, Director, Taiwan World Trade Center (TAITRA) in Chennai forecasts that the trade volume between Taiwan and India will grow more than 50% in the next three years. Mr. Simon Lee, President, Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Chennai said investments will be mainly in the electronics and non-leather footwear sectors over the next three years. “Working closely with TECC and TAITRA, we expect eight times more inflow of companies from Taiwan into Tamil Nadu, than already here.”
